The liquid sensors developed by imec are at the heart of the development of the IoW Flanders’ smart monitoring network.

imec has optimized its liquid sensors to measure electrical conductivity as well as temperature and acidity (pH). The sensors were extensively and successfully tested in the laboratory and the measurements were compared with standard measuring methods.

The imec sensors use silicon technology and are suitable for various IoT applications. The expected cost per sensor is considerably lower than comparable sensors. Meanwhile, imec also started to develop and test a liquid nitrate sensor
